Head Of Accommodation – Trinity College Dublin
Trinity College Dublin seeks to appoint the position of Head of Accommodation. 

The Head of Accommodation will join the management team of the Commercial Revenue Unit (CRU). Reporting to the Commercial Director, the post-holder will be responsible for the management and operation of 1,900 residential places in addition to a further 740 places that are utilised by Trinity in private purpose-built student accommodation. These rooms are available to visitors and the public during the summer period, generating a high revenue summer business. This position will be attractive to an
innovative and independent manager.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of growing a business and managing and motivating staff. They will have a strong commercial background and knowledge of the workings of an educational institution, strong project management in maintenance/construction with significant experience within sales, hospitality and corporate governance.

The Head of Accommodation will have responsibilities including, but not limited to, the following:

  • Executing the Commercial Strategy for the Accommodation Department and delivering ambitious financial results
  • Assuming ownership of the IT systems that support the accommodation business
  • Being the University accommodation subject matter expert and contributing to long term strategic planning within Trinity
  • Preparing annual operating budgets and quarterly forecasts for both student and commercial business, including setting pricing strategy for commercial business
  • Ensuring the delivery of an excellent product and customer experience across all customer cohorts
  • Contributing to residence life and student welfare
  • Ensuring the statutory compliance of residences particularly in relation to landlord regulations, safety and security
  • Developing efficient and streamlined business processes and systems
  • Managing and motivating the accommodation team to drive sales to achieve targets

Person Specification Qualifications:

  • A relevant primary degree (essential)
  • An additional diploma, degree or masters would be preferred
  • Hospitality industry experience where front-line customer service has been a priority of the business
  • General management experience with a proven pragmatic outlook
  • The person should have at least 10 years relevant business experience
  • Experience in managing tourism sales and marketing activities
  • Proven experience of managing and developing staff and building a positive team culture

Skills & Competencies include:

  • Innovation in the delivery of agile business processes and information systems 
  • Project management preferably with a maintenance or construction theme
  • Proven excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills
  • Excellent IT skills in a wide range of software packages
  • An ability to command the trust and respect of colleagues
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to act as an ambassador for Trinity, as well as cultural awareness and sensitivity in interacting with people from different cultures
  • Strong motivation with a well-developed capacity for self-direction
  • Dynamic individual with a proven ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment with strong problem-solving skills

This is a 5-year fixed-contract role offering a salary of €88,959 to €118,086 per annum plus benefits based on the Senior Administrative Officer 2 Salary Scale.
