Education Authority Northern Ireland

Chief Executive

Salary in the range £137,216 to £163,986

Northern Ireland

The Education Authority is one of the largest educational bodies in the UK and the biggest employer in Northern Ireland, with over 39,000 staff and a budget of circa £2 billion. The organisation is charged with leading change to the delivery of education services in Northern Ireland so that these are more sharply focused on meeting the needs of young people, remove barriers to learning and allow every child to develop to their full potential.

We have recently refreshed our corporate leadership team at Director and Assistant Director level and now seek to appoint an inspirational Chief Executive who can lead the organisation in what is a challenging environment.  You will set and deliver our strategy to transform the way we deliver services, ensure sound financial management of the organisation, and shape the future provision of services across the education sector in Northern Ireland for the benefit of generations to come.

We expect that you will bring a proven track record of leading a large and complex service delivery operation. You understand the challenges organisational change can present and how they should be managed. You will be comfortable leading an organisation with responsibility for a budget in the region of £2 billion and the accountability that goes with that. You will have the ability to operate successfully in an evolving, demanding stakeholder landscape and manage relationships at the highest level.

This is a unique opportunity to lead a relatively young organisation on a continuing journey of transformation.
