United Hardware is a 100% Irish owned limited company. It is the largest buying group servicing over 150 independent home and garden retailers and builders’ merchants stores in Ireland operating across 26 Counties.

The company is now seeking to appoint a Commercial Director to take full responsibility for the buying and sales operations functions of the business.  The role will extend to the commercial management of all product lines with responsibility for both margin and profit.  The role will also have responsibility for supply chain from suppliers through to customers in a timely, cost effective and efficient manner.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Commercial Director will lead a team of dedicated industry and product experts.

The Commercial Director will set the vision for the business, create the business strategy and execute against the agreed plan.  Supported by a committed team across all categories, the Commercial Director will drive activities to achieve targets, margin and profit and will support each of the members (150+) in driving performance in their businesses.  The Commercial Director will enrich United Hardware’s commercial services offering and will work cross functionally with Operations and Marketing to ensure that the commercial teams are customer focussed and insight-led in their decision making.

Relationship building and management with suppliers, members and industry participants will form a significant part of this role.  Astute buying, pricing and promotions will also be relevant along with new product development, e-procurement and access to the Grey Market.

The Commercial Director will have a demonstrable track record of strategy development, people leadership, stakeholder management and business acumen in a strong commercial environment.

We are seeking to attract a high energy and ambitious individual who has a proven track record of achievement in a commercial environment.  A dynamic, highly collaborative and self-motivated work style is essential, supported by high personal standards in terms of quality, communications and the desire to succeed.  Candidates will be educated to degree level or equivalent in an appropriate discipline.
