NATIONAL MEMBER SUPPORT MANAGER
The Society of St Vincent de Paul (SVP) is a large, national, voluntary organisation with extensive experience of working with a diverse range of people who experience poverty and exclusion. Through its network of over 12,000 volunteers and 800 staff, SVP is strongly committed to working for social justice and advocates the creation of a more just and caring society. SVP employs people to support volunteers in the core work of visitation as well as in a variety of settings including Social Housing, Homeless Services, community care, shops, administration and other specialist areas. The National Member Support Manager is a pivotal senior role within the organisation and will be expected to build on strategies adopted in recent years to deliver quality and consistent supports to beneficiaries. S/he will be instrumental in ensuring a coordinated approach to the development and implementation of strategies to support, develop and enhance the practices and activities of members in their work. The National Member Support Manager will maintain, develop and manage national systems and processes which support the delivery of consistent and quality home visitation. S/he will manage and support the work of the Member Support Officers throughout the regions in conjunction with the Regional Coordinators.
The National Member Support Manager will maintain, develop and manage national processes and systems for the recruitment, retention, development and support of members as well as build the capacity of members to undertake quality home visitation through the provision of information resources and training. S/he will promote within the Society the development and sharing of good practice in the delivery of services; maintain, develop and manage a national youth programme “Young SVP”; and manage, support and develop the staff in the Membership Support function and Young SVP.
It is expected that applicants will have significant experience at a Senior level with responsibility for service provision in an organisational context of comparable complexity. Excellent leadership, strategic and communication skills will be important competencies as will solid relationship building, original thinking and the capacity to undertake change management and project management initiatives. It is a requirement that the successful candidate will be willing to travel nationally together with access to a car and hold a full clean driving license.
