Chief Executive Officer
Córas Iompair Éireann (CIÉ) is the national statutory body providing public rail and bus transport within the Republic of Ireland. CIÉ is wholly owned by the Government of Ireland and reports to the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport. CIÉ's subsidiaries are: Bus Atha Cliath, Bus Éireann and Iarnród Éireann. CIÉ also owns CIÉ Tours International. In addition, CIÉ itself contains a Holding Company which generates commercial revenues in its own right, manages property and pensions on behalf of the Group and provides a range of other professional shared services to the subsidiary companies. In 2017 CIÉ Group, through its subsidiary companies, generated total revenues of €1,239 million with passenger journey's totalling 264 million.
To maintain high standards in the provision of the public transport and to compete successfully, in an ever-increasing competitive market place, CIÉ must ensure that its subsidiaries and the Group strategy are fully aligned. This responsibility is centralised in the office of Chief Executive Officer of CIÉ Group.
CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER (CEO)
Reporting directly to the Group Chairman and to the CIÉ Board, the CEO will be responsible for the coordination of the overall strategic vision of the CIÉ Group of companies in collaboration with the Boards and CEOs of the three subsidiary companies.
This is a crucial appointment for CIÉ Group and requires well-honed influencing skills, coupled with a track record of leadership and management, ideally gained within a similar complex services organisation (either private sector or public sector). He/she will be driven in terms of the delivery of stakeholder objectives with respect to the commercial and public service obligations of CIÉ. Candidates will have a strong business background and a track record of delivering change from an organisational and cultural prospective.
