IMMA, Ireland’s National Museum of Modern & Contemporary Art is now seeking an experienced and dynamic new Director. This is an exciting opportunity to shape contemporary art in Ireland.

IMMA’s mission is to connect audiences and art, providing an extraordinary space in Ireland where contemporary life and contemporary art connect, challenge and inspire one another. IMMA shares, develops and conserves the Irish National Collection of Modern & Contemporary Art for now and for the future.

The Director will be responsible for the overall leadership, management and setting of the artistic vision and tone for the museum in collaboration with key staff. The successful applicant will have people management skills, a proven ability to form relationships with benefactors and donors, combined with an ability and experience of managing a commercial agenda as well as an artistic one.

A key requirement is the ability to balance change with continuity, to create a work environment that encourages creative thinking and maintains focus, intensity and persistence even under increasingly complex and demanding conditions.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Working with a talented group of colleagues to further IMMA’s artistic and strategic vision, direction and leadership.
  • Continuing to advance the museums commitment to operational excellence and have overall accountability and responsibility for its performance management.
  • Running the overall business of IMMA, including co-ordination, refining and leading the implementation of the organisation’s strategic plan 2017 – 2021 and beyond.
  • Secure a sustainable funding mix from government support, commercial income and private sources.
