DIRECTOR OF INDUSTRY PROGRAMMES
Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) is the Irish government’s major competitive funder of scientific and engineering research. SFI’s mission is to progress Ireland’s society and economy by supporting the best scientific and engineering research while building an awareness of the role, impact and opportunities science creates. SFI is a key implementing agency for the Government Strategy “Innovation 2020” which aims to position Ireland as a global leader in scientific and engineering research, discovery and innovation.
Reporting to the Director General and as a member of the SFI Executive Committee, the Director of Industry Programmes will have responsibility for developing and implementing SFI’s strategy with respect to competitive funding programmes involving significant industry collaboration and co-funding eg. SFI research centres, partnerships, industry fellowships.
Managing a high-performing team, the position holder will have wide responsibility for leading the implementation and monitoring of programmes, and the development of key external relations including collaborations with large and small, multinational and indigenous companies.
Applicants will have a proven track record of senior management preferably in industry with an entrepreneurial mind-set to be able to develop and implement visionary, effective programmes.
An excellent communicator and influencer, the appointee will have a PhD or equivalent qualification in an area underpinning ICT, telecoms, engineering, energy or biotechnology combined with well-honed organisational development, stakeholder management and people management skills.
