Head of Development
Co-operative Housing Ireland is Ireland’s national federation for the co-operative housing movement. Founded in 1973, Co-operative Housing Ireland has supported the provision of homes across the country and has promoted the development of affiliated local co-operative societies across Ireland.
Co-operative Housing Ireland is currently responsible for the management of more than 2,000 homes and has ambitious expansion plans for the years to 2020. Growth is a key strategic priority for Co-operative Housing Ireland over the next 5 years with a targeted 20% year-on-year growth. To achieve this target, the organisation is seeking to appoint a Head of Development to lead its development function and deliver new housing stock.
Head of Development
Reporting to the CEO, the Head of Development will have overall responsibility for growing Co-operative Housing Ireland’s housing stock to achieve its target for 2023. The post-holder will deliver a pipeline of new properties and will proactively seek out and secure opportunities for potential properties. The Head of Development will lead the development team at Co-operative Housing Ireland and provide support and motivation to team members. The position is within the Executive Management Team (EMT) at Co-operative Housing Ireland and as such will share collective responsibility with other EMT members for delivering the organisation’s strategy and vision.
The Head of Development will identify new development possibilities and will be responsible for areas including project feasibility, purchase, construction and leasing of new housing stock. He/she will also establish and maintain strong relationships with key external stakeholders to expand Co-operative Housing Ireland’s housing stock, manage a pipelines of development prospects at varying stages and mitigate risk around the development of new housing stock. The successful candidate will have the ability to plan strategically and the vision to implement strategy.
Co-operative Housing Ireland is seeking a determined and motivated leader with the capacity to help the organisation achieve its aim of growth. Candidates with a background in housing development or property related fields from the not-for-profit, private or public sector are welcome. An understanding of the property development cycle at each stage of the process is essential for this role.
