Chief Executive Officer & Registrar
CORU* is Ireland’s multi-profession Health Regulator whose role is to protect the public by ensuring high standards of professional conduct, education, training and competence through the statutory registration of health and social care professionals. CORU’s objective is to ensure that all registered members meet the necessary standards in terms of competence and skills to perform their duties properly and professionally, in accordance with prescribed codes of professional conduct and ethics.
Set up under the Health and Social Care Professionals Act of 2005, CORU is currently responsible for the regulation of 15 designated health and social care professions. The organisation is working to a program of phased implementation where each profession has or will have its own Registration Board with responsibility for the registration of the respective professionals. Over 25,000 professionals will be registered with CORU.
The Chief Executive Officer & Registrar is responsible for leading the organisation and for successfully implementing the Health and Social Care Professionals Council’s agreed strategy for 2017-2021, and beyond. The Health and Social Care Professionals Council is the statutory body established by Government to oversee and coordinate the work of the Registration Boards. The CEO & Registrar will work closely with the Council and its relevant committees to provide strategic leadership, direction and governance across all elements of the organisation.
This position requires an experienced leader with a proven track record of strategy development and delivery in a significant organisation. The successful candidate will have excellent communications and networking abilities, as well as significant leadership and influencing skills in dealing with individuals and groups at all levels. An understanding of the Irish Health and Social Care sector is desirable.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
- Extensive knowledge of the relevant Irish, EU and international regulatory frameworks
- Significant understanding of best practice governance frameworks
- Capable of leading, building and motivating a diverse workforce to deliver high quality outcomes
- Educated to Degree level or equivalent, in a relevant discipline.
