SOLAS is the Further Education and Training Authority in Ireland tasked with ensuring the provision of 21st Century programmes within the Further Education and Training Sector that are responsive to the needs of learners and the requirements of a changed and changing economy. Its mission is to fund, plan and co-ordinate a range of further education and training that supports this vision.

Director Work-Based Learning

Reporting to the Executive Director for Skills Development, the Director of Work-Based Learning will drive the development and implementation of national policy on work-based learning, and effective partnerships between enterprises and the education and training system. The successful candidate will lead the achievement of development targets and relevant actions set-out in the Action Plan to Expand Apprenticeship and Traineeship in Ireland in collaboration with range of key internal and external partners.

The Person

Persons appointed will have a demonstrative flair for leading developments within an evolving organisation and will have a significant and relevant record of achievement at senior management level. The ideal candidates will have excellent oral and written communication skills and will demonstrate
energy, creativity, strong leadership skills and the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams. They will lead by example and will adopt a management style that is inclusive, enabling and which facilitates the development of constructive relationships with stakeholders, both internally and externally.

The salary scale for these senior level posts are equivalent to that of Principal Officer in the Civil Service.
