Strategic Director of Place and Economy
A city full of ambition, optimism and energy, Belfast is one of the most value-competitive locations in the UK and Ireland for inward investment. With billions of pounds invested in regenerating the city in recent years by both the public and private sectors, the transformation is there for all to see and is set to continue.
Belfast City Council is seeking to appoint a highly experienced and highly accomplished visionary that will drive Belfast’s future growth and regeneration – creating a sustainable, attractive, unique and dynamic place to live, work, visit and invest.
Fulfilling the newly created Strategic Director of Place and Economy role, the successful candidate will be a ‘big picture thinker’ who possesses a holistic view and strategic ability to both develop and implement a strong, ambitious and forward-thinking vision for Belfast.
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive, this senior-level role comes with a high level of responsibility that will entail:
- developing, leading and managing the integrated service portfolio of the new Place and Economy Department (combining investment, infrastructure, planning, physical, economic and social development) to meet the needs of citizens, businesses and other stakeholders in the growth and regeneration of the city;
- developing strong collaborative working relationships with a wide portfolio of local, UK and international stakeholders – including private sector, central government and a range of education establishments, tourism and investment agencies;
- providing exceptionally strong leadership to a dynamic, growing team within the newly created Place and Economy Department; and
- working effectively as part of the Council’s Corporate Management Team (CMT).
We would like to hear from individuals with a track record of success in leading comparable, complex regeneration, economic development and planning programmes.
This role comes with an attractive remuneration and benefits package.
