Director of the Decision Support Service
The Director of the Decision Support Service is a new post established under the Assisted Decision-Making (Capacity) Act, 2015. This position is a senior management function in the Mental Health Commission which is of critical legal, social, financial and regulatory importance. This position requires high levels of public accountability and responsibility, and involves a range of diverse statutory functions.
The successful candidate will be expected to establish the new Decision Support Service within the Mental Health Commission and position it to make a significant contribution to the regulation of assisted decision making
arrangements. The Director will also be required to raise public awareness of
the new legal framework on decision-making capacity. S/he must have a strong commitment to making a positive contribution to supporting the participation, autonomy and dignity of individuals whose decision-making capacity is in question or maybe in question in the future.
