Role Summary

We are recruiting for an R&D Project Manager to employ best practice to execute technical projects on time, in scope and within budget, or, where necessary, to identify instances where termination of a project is warranted.   To work across business units and functions to develop cross-functional teams, and manage stakeholder communications and expectations.

Contribute to building best practice processes for leadership and management of innovation projects, in particular for identification of technical objectives, deliverables and success criteria.

Key Responsibilities

•To develop, scope and manage Research and Product Development projects, and create a culture of delivery to meet an ambitious development programme

•To manage a project team of Product and Process experts to explore, test and validate GII NPD.

•Delivery of complex projects, driving resolution of technical problems.

•Understanding of business cases and financial templates, the key drivers of value in a project, and how these relate to the technical deliverables.

•Familiar with the array of frameworks and techniques within the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) and/or PRINCE 2.

•Demonstrate fluency in Corporate and business unit processes for project management, including those in other business and functional units (e.g. Capital Projects).

•Identify risks (both threats and opportunities) and lead recommendations on the appropriate risk management strategy.

•Provide regular project updates in line with reporting requirements.

•Negotiate and administer relevant contracts with external providers.

•Mentor others to achieve best practice in delivery of technical projects.

•Maintain an effective Intellectual Property position

•Make recommendations on IP protection strategies

•Maintain clear minutes and records

•To assist the R&D management team in maintaining and strengthening the innovation strategy in collaboration with commercial and market insights teams.


Science based qualification, preferably to post graduate level. (Food Technology, Engineering, Food Science, Dietetics)


Excellent communication skills particularly in technical arena for interaction at all levels
