Senior Executive ITS Officer

Dublin is an international capital city and is an economic engine of the region and state. Dublin City Council seeks to enhance the city’s attraction as a place in which to invest, to work, to live and to visit. The City Council takes the lead role in shaping the strategic vision of the city and the region and provides the essential services and the infrastructural capacity to sustain the life of the city.

The City Council provides a wide range of local authority services including housing, planning, development, environmental, roads and traffic, leisure and community services. The Intelligent Transformation Systems (ITS) Division is responsible for all aspects of Traffic Management infrastructure in the Dublin City Council area and plays a role in providing services to various Local Authorities and National Agencies.  The ITS Division maintains and operates a sophisticated centralised Traffic Signal Management Control System, SCATS, which controls over 800+ traffic signals throughout both Dublin City Council and numerous other local authority areas.

An opportunity now exists in Dublin City Council for the role of Senior Executive Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) Officer.

Reporting to the Senior Transportation Officer, Senior Engineer, or another such designated officer, the Senior Executive ITS Officer will fulfil a role across this Division working with multi-disciplinary staff and providing leadership and expertise across the areas in which they are assigned. The successful candidate will have experience, knowledge and skills in the IT domain that support the ITS System with regards to the operation systems, networks and data storage for sustainable enterprise systems.

The successful candidate will:

  • Hold a recognized honours degree (Level 8 on the National Framework for Qualifications in Engineering, Information Technology or Computer Science);
  • Have at least seven years’ satisfactory relevant experience in the area of road based transportation/traffic engineering or ITS projects or in the design or deployment of technology driven distributed systems;
  • Possess a high standard of technical training and experience and of management and administrative experience.
