Head of Research Services and Policy
The Department of Health's mission is to improve the health and wellbeing of people in Ireland by delivering high quality health services and getting best value from health system resources.
The Head of Research Services and Policy reporting to the Assistant Secretary for R&D and Health Analytics plays a key role in providing internal research services and economic support to the whole Department to optimise evidence-informed decision making. The role also provides policy and strategic direction to the Minister and key stakeholders to ensure the development and implementation of a broad-based R&D roadmap for the health system
The successful candidates will have;
- A minimum of 5 years relevant experience at a senior management level, leading and managing research projects including experience in a research policy development role, whether in the public service, health service or in an academic setting;
- Education to Master’s degree level in a relevant area with a significant research component;
- Experience in commissioning and managing research and evaluation studies, which includes development of requests for tender, evaluation of proposals, preparation of contracts, management of externally-commissioned work to agreed standards, costs and timelines, and financial tracking of projects;
- Strong working knowledge of international (global/European) and domestic R&D environment, systems, policies and legislation.
