National Orthopaedic Hospital Cappagh, an independent voluntary hospital and part of the Ireland East Hospital Group (IEHG), is Ireland’s major centre for elective orthopaedic surgery and is now the biggest dedicated orthopaedic hospital in the country. Founded in 1908 under the care of the Sisters of Charity, National Orthopaedic Hospital Cappagh, is now an elective hospital with 159 beds, catering for both public and private patients. The hospital is affiliated in equal volume to both UCD and RCSI for surgical training, whilst also linked to RCPI for medical training.

 

THE POSITION

Reporting to the Chief Executive, and a member of the Senior Management team, the Human Resources Manager will lead, manage and develop the Human Resources function within the National Orthopaedic Hospital Cappagh which has a team of six staff including payroll and superannuation.

The Human Resources Manager will support Senior Management and all Heads of Department with all operational and strategic matters relating to the Human Resources function through the development and implementation of best practices in Human Resources Management.

 

REQUIREMENTS

Candidates of interest for this unique opportunity will have a minimum of five years’ experience at a senior level in a human resources department (preferably in a hospital environment) with a minimum of three years’ management experience.

A well-rounded understanding across the core areas of human resources in a unionised environment will be essential. A third level qualification, preferably in human resources or a related discipline together with chartered CIPD membership is desirable.

Core competencies required will include high levels of; leadership, strategic vision, communication, team player, initiative, foresight, multitasking, attention to detail and solutions and results orientation. A commitment to the mission, vision and values of National Orthopaedic Hospital Cappagh is essential.

 

                                          REMUNERATION

Terms of Employment will be in accordance with the Department of Health guidelines. Grade VIII salary scale applies.
