United Hardware is a 100% Irish owned limited company.  It is the largest buying and marketing group servicing over 150 independent home and garden retailers and builders’ merchants in Ireland operating across 26 Counties.  Its mission is to purchase competitively for its members whilst offering support services and best practice for their retail operations.

The Company is now seeking to appoint a Buying Director to drive all purchasing and trading activities and to maximise profit opportunities for members with a joined-up buy/move/sell approach through efficient and appropriate supply chains.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Buying Director will lead a team of Senior Trading Managers across the entire range and will ensure that targeted volumes, margin and commercial trading terms are achieved.

The Buying Director will work as part of the Executive team in terms of strategy development and execution.  The role will require excellent commercial and communication skills in support of the 150 strong member base.  Excellent organisational, negotiation and stakeholder management skills are required as the Company services its members in order to drive profit and performance at the retail level.

Excellent knowledge of global markets, e-procurement practices, category management and global sourcing is required.  A demonstrable track record of people leadership, values-driven management and attention to detail is essential.

We are seeking to attract a high energy and ambitious individual who will lead the trading team through its next phase of growth.  A dynamic and highly collaborative work style is required as you service the needs of the members across all trading platforms.  Effective business planning, market analysis and strong negotiation skills are desired.

A competitive remuneration package, including base, bonus, car and benefits will be offered to the preferred candidate.
