Chief Financial Officer
As Ireland’s largest media organisation, RTÉ has a unique range of responsibilities and competes with the world’s best- resourced and most influential media services.
RTÉ’s dual-funded mandate requires a balanced approach: public funding entails exacting accountability, whilst generating commercial income is necessary to fulfil the public service remit. The future of RTÉ will be characterised by digital technologies, a connected world, as well as organisational and social agility. Through innovation and creativity, RTÉ will ensure that audiences will continue to have access to high quality Irish programming and content that challenges, educates and entertains.
Reporting to the Director General, the Chief Financial Officer will control and direct the financial operations of the organisation and will actively contribute to the general management and strategic direction of the business. The role will involve leading and directing the financial strategy of the organisation through organic growth, acquisitions, investments and strategic alliances.
A key member of the senior leadership team, the person appointed will develop the strategic direction of the business to ensure profitability and achieve medium and long range goals. Balancing the operational needs of the organisation with its strategic ambitions in an increasingly changing environment will be important.
Candidates must share RTÉ’s values and be independent thinkers and empathetic leaders. Strong influencing skills and a proven ability to communicate effectively with multiple stakeholders and at all organisational levels will be paramount. A professionally qualified accountant who has worked in comparably complex operational setting and who can contribute in a fast moving, consumer orientated businesses and increasingly technology driven environment will be of particular interest.
