The Veterinary Council of Ireland (the VCI) is the statutory body set up under the Veterinary Practice Act 2005 and it is under the aegis of the Minister of Agriculture, Food and the Marine. The principal function of the VCI is to regulate the practice of veterinary medicine and veterinary nursing in the Republic of Ireland, in the public interest and in the interest of animal welfare and veterinary public health. The statutory function of the VCI is to ensure that all registered persons meet the necessary standards in terms of professional conduct, competence, education and skills to perform their duties properly and professionally, in accordance with prescribed codes of professional conduct and ethics and in accordance with legislative requirements. The Council has nineteen members who are appointed by the Minister of Agriculture, Food and the Marine of which nine are elected veterinary practitioners, one is an elected veterinary nurse and nine are nominees.
To support its continued development, the VCI wishes to appoint a Finance Manager who will be responsible for the financial operations and control of the organisation.
The Finance Manager will ensure that effective administration, budgeting and audit processes operate within the VCI. Responsibilities will include cost control, vendor management, procurement, internal audit, payments, banking and financial systems. The appointed person will provide all financial monthly reports and will be responsible for producing the VCI’s Annual Report.
Reporting to the Registrar / CEO, the ideal candidate for this position will have an established background in financial control in a relevant business environment.
This role requires a highly organised approach and the ability to prioritise and deliver on a diverse range of activities. A dynamic and self-motivated working style is essential.
A recognised accountancy qualification is required.
