About Financial Services Union
The Financial Services Union is the leading trade union representing staff in Ireland's financial services sector – with over 15,000 members located in the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland and Great Britain.
The Union organises workers throughout the sector – full-time, part-time and temporary staff – in a wide range of financial institutions – including banks, life assurance companies, finance and leasing organisations, technology companies providing specialist support to the finance sector and call centres.
While the Union's core activity is progressing workplace issues – such as pay, working time and safety, health and welfare at work – on behalf of its members both individually and collectively, FSU also offers a wide range of complementary services to its members including training and personal development opportunities, legal expertise, access to leisure activities and a range of special discounts on goods and services.
The Union is organised from the bottom up by local FSU Points of Contact in each workplace, area representatives known as Area Co-ordinators and national representatives on the Union's five Sector Committees and on the overarching General Council. FSU is a union run by employees in the financial services for employees in the financial services. These are all rank-and-file members elected to their positions by their peers working in the financial services sector. Complementing this voluntary representative structure is a team of full-time professional industrial and administrative staff employed by FSU and led by the Union's General Secretary, Larry Broderick.
