The Hunt Museum exhibits one of Ireland’s greatest and world-renowned private collections of art and antiquities.

Housed in the historic, 18th century Custom House at the heart of the city, the Hunt Museum is a focal point of life in Limerick, sitting at the junction of the medieval old city and the Georgian quarter.

After a period of consolidation, the museum is now poised to defray considerable investment and play an even greater role in the cultural, civic and economic revival of Limerick.  The Board of the Museum is delighted to advertise the position of CEO & Director of the Hunt Museum.

This is a senior leadership role and you will be required to show commensurate experience and the ability to manage a high performing team and ensure the potential of the museum’s ambitious plans are fully realised.  Your challenge will be to cement the museum’s local, national and international relevance and prominence at all levels.

Reporting to the Board, you will demonstrate evidence of having implemented artistic policy with operational management and led successful fundraising activities. Your experience and skills developed while working at an executive level within the artistic, cultural or heritage sector will be tested on a daily basis.

A high level of entrepreneurial flair, stakeholder management skills and proven expertise will be required to drive the museum’s development, which is central to it playing a strategic role in Limerick’s renaissance.  Leadership skills to guide and facilitate the museum team to achieve its objectives are essential.

You will be expected to show a track record and ongoing willingness to build strong and effective networks locally, nationally and internationally and must be prepared to live in or relocate to the Limerick region.

An attractive salary and package, including pension will be offered. You will also benefit from the full backing of an innovative and visionary board keen to work with a leader who shares their enthusiasm and ambition for the next chapter of the museum’s history.
