Our client are currently seeking a Head of Category Management to head up their team on a maternity cover contract. We are seeking a person who is sales and customer focussed, who is innovative and is a proven leader with great experience in the Food/FMCG Industry.

The successful candidate will be required to drive sales through excellent buying and innovation while working with the marketing team to deliver promotions.

Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Sales/Category Management:

• Drive sales while effectively leading category management team
• Develop and drive effective business strategy for food products
• Achieve budgeted sales/margins aligned in annual business plans

2. Innovation:

• Develop category plans to meet commercial business margins
• Analyse changing trends internationally
• Develop and foster strong relationships with suppliers

3. Store development:

• Sign off on new stores layouts and understand how stores can fully maximise merchandising standards
• Ensuring agreed stock delivery is implemented as agreed with suppliers and stores


• 7 years’ experience in senior retail category management/buyer position
• Graduate qualification in a business discipline 
• Strategically and commercially focussed with strong buying and negotiation skills
• Proven track record of driving sales in retail environment
• Proven track record in contributing at both operational and strategic level
• Experience in managing and leading successful teams in retail environment
