The Institute’s Faculty of Engineering has a dynamic and well-established record of academic and research achievement across all its operations. The Department of Aerospace, Mechanical and Electronic Engineering contributes greatly to this dynamic environment and prides itself in providing an excellent student experience using state of the art facilities (aircraft hangar, avionics laboratory, mechanical/electronic workshops and TV/radio studios). Our dedicated staff have extensive industrial experience and all our programmes are professionally accredited with organisations such as Engineers Ireland and the Royal Aeronautical Society.

The Department is now seeking to appoint a strategic and inspirational leader to advance both its academic and research endeavours in line with the strategic goals of the Institute. The appointee will be expected to provide strong academic leadership and to have the drive and inspiration to expand the Department’s research activities. This position will involve enhancing a progressive curriculum and research development programme whilst effectively managing people, financial and operational resources. The successful candidate must also be capable of developing and implementing collaborative initiatives created with the Institute’s national and international
partners.

Successful applicants must have a relevant Honours Degree (First or Second class), or equivalent, in aerospace, mechanical or electronic engineering, or related discipline area, plus a relevant higher qualification (Masters or PhD) or equivalent professional qualification. A minimum of five years relevant postgraduate experience with a significant element of this experience being industry focused is also essential.
