The Irish Heart Foundation (Irish Heart) is the national charity dedicated to fighting heart disease and stroke, the primary causes of premature death in Ireland. Its mission is to affect positive change in the lifestyles of Irish people, to achieve better outcomes for those affected by heart disease and stroke and to challenge when the health of our nation is put at risk. Irish Heart empowers people to live longer, healthier lives.
Reporting to the Board, the Chief Executive has overall responsibility for leadership of Irish Heart and is responsible for the planning, communication and execution of the organisation’s strategy in a manner consistent with its mission, vision and values. The Chief Executive will inspire, lead, manage and support staff members, volunteers and other stakeholders in the fulfilment of their responsibilities and will maintain a culture that attracts, retains and motivates a diverse, high calibre team.
The Board is seeking an inspirational leader with strong strategic, representative and commercial capabilities who can enhance Irish Heart’s fundraising activities which support heart health promotion, patient care, education and advocacy programmes. The appointee will possess well-honed commercial and organisational development skills, coupled with a proven track record of leadership and management. An exceptional communicator and influencer, the appointee will also participate at a European level with peer organisations to promote the fight against stroke and heart disease.
