Advisory Counsel Grade 1
The Attorney General is the advisor to the Government in matters of law and legal opinion and provides the State with drafting and legislation services.
The role of the Advisory Counsel is to assist and advise the Attorney General in carrying out her role as the advisor to the Government. The range of subjects covered is broad, but include the provision of advice and the direction of litigation and legal advice in the delivery of a drafting service to Government Departments.
Applicants must have been called to the Bar, or have been admitted and been enrolled as a solicitor in the State, and have practised as a barrister or solicitor in the State for at least eight years. Excellent analytical abilities, sound judgement, commitment and attention to detail are essential. The successful candidate must also have excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to network effectively and to influence others.
