SOLAS is the Further Education and Training Authority in Ireland, tasked
with ensuring the provision of 21st century programmes within further
education and training that are responsive to the needs of learners and
the requirements of a changed and changing economy. Its mission is to
fund, co-ordinate and monitor a range of further education and training
provision that supports this vision.
SOLAS is seeking to recruit an Economist for its Skills and Labour
Market Research Unit (SMLRU). The Unit publishes research and
reports including labour market data and analyses that facilitates
the development and review of policy and practice in the further and
higher education sectors as well as other related sectors. The post is an
Assistant Manager post.
Candidates must hold a degree level or higher qualification in Economics
and have at least 5 years’ experience of producing high quality research
reports and research papers on topics of direct relevance to SOLAS,
including skills analyses. The ideal candidate must be self-motivated,
with a wide ranging knowledge of the labour market intelligence
infrastructure in Ireland. Evidence of having extracted and analysed data
on the Irish or European labour market must be demonstrated.
